My Twitter Peeps

If you are not on Twitter, I hope that this post encourages you to give it a try. I decided to blog about the people that I love tweeting with since Twitter is my newest obsession. You can follow me @przthomas and because I don’t know the people personally that I will be blogging about I’ll just use their Twitter ID names. I have met some of the coolest people on earth while twittering. I was the newbie and I was looking for “Twitter Love”. I found it after enduring days of frustration. It’s not easy getting people to accept the fact that you want nothing from them but a conversation. It’s a joke to a lot of people, but there are a few people on there like me who are downright addicted. Twitter is the latest social phenomenon. People from everywhere are tweeting, there are all classes of people with a wide variety of interest. Sometimes the server can’t even hold the demand and sends out an over capacity message.

When I first started tweeting it was @UncleRush that motivated me to stay on there, because he was the first person to send me a reply. That was big for me because I think that everybody knows that he is the one and only Russell Simmons. Since being on there I haven’t seen him reply to anybody except a few other celebrities. I was motivated, but still I wanted more than one reply. I even blogged about it on hubpages.com. The blogs name is Twitter-Envy. I started writing about the friendly celebrities that would tweet with their fans. That opened the door for me to contact these celebrities and inform them that they were mentioned in my blog, just like I’m going to do to the people that I talk about on here. Yeah, that’s why you’re reading this. I already know.

It’s no secret that I’m also a reality TV junkie, so of course I was going to jump at the chance to tweet with the cast of my favorite shows. @KandiConnection of the RHOA is my favorite Atlanta Housewife and she understands that her fans are what will keep her on top. She even tweeted through her tragedy. Her friend @RASHEEDAGAPEACH is also one of the dopest people on Twitter. She’s a rapper and I love the way she interacts with her fans. I love the Tiny & Toya show, but it’s @KieshaBabi that has won me over and one of the first people to take it beyond Twitter. You know I love me some Frankie & Neffe, but it’s @DarielLoves and @Elite_Noel who are my fellow Twitter addicts.

@DarielLoves is so cool that he and @RASHEEDAGAPEACH actually became a fan of my sickle cell support page on facebook. I have tweeted with other sickle cell activist like @KAMMsTheAce and her mother @helipo. @RitaFayeFit and @krissybri are other adults with the disease. Other Twitter Peeps include @MissMandy88, @sgwhite9, @PhyllisKarmazin, @BeegeJohnson, @AleshiaSen the newbie, @Whyguys an awesome blogger, @JoiaMercedes a celebrity hair & make-up artist.

I know I didn’t include everybody, but I wanted these people to know how much I appreciate them for making me feel like the Internet Socialite that I am. I’ll see you on twitter and if your not following me. Ask your self why, I’m not asking because I love following you anyway. Muaaahhh!!

900 Tweets

Well today I reached 900 tweets on Twitter and I had to take a step back and reflect on what the hell I had been tweeting about. I am following 107 people and there are only 154 people following me so what is the deal. In the month of September I did a lot of tweets to bring awareness of my struggle since it was “Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Month”. Over the last few days I have been promoting my Sickle Cell Page that I created on facebook and cross promoting with @KAMMsTheAce for the Blackout 09 event. I did a little promoting of my blogs, but mostly I used Twitter to Chat. I have not been on Twitter long enough to have that many damn tweets. I have one of the most boring lives known to mankind, but if you look at my twitter page you would think I was the social butterfly of the year.

So if I’m chatting on Twitter, what am I chatting about? Let’s start with Tiny of the Tiny & Toya Show. There was a comedian on Twitter making some off colored jokes about Tiny and some of her family, friends and/or fans were getting very upset about it. I saw this “Twitter Fight” going on and after a while I got tired of going back and forth trying to follow the tweets. In my usual “Mama” style, I sent a tweet to the comedian and basically told him that he didn’t need to tear people down in order to get a laugh. He sent a tweet back and thanked me for the advice. Well the crowd was stilled pumped up, so I had to pull their coat tails and I told them not to give that the attention that they had been giving it. After a few more tweets the fight was over.

The next time I sent out a lot of tweets was when I met @AleshiaSen who was new to twitter. She started following me after she saw that @KandiConnection was replying to several of my tweets. It didn’t take long to detect that she was frustrated so I sent her a link to my blog on hubpages titled Twitter-Envy. I wanted her to learn what I already knew. The celebrities on Twitter don’t always reply to their fans. Some of them only reply to their peers and people that they actually know. Some of them don’t even do that. On my blog I highlight some of the celebrities that I have encountered who reply often to their fans. Well, that wasn’t enough. She was following these Twitter friendly celebrities and still no one replied to her.

Being the “Twitter Mama” that I am, I started an all out promotion. I asked my followers to follow this new tweetheart. I really don’t think that she knew exactly what she wanted, because on one hand she wanted followers, but more than that I think she wanted replies from celebrities. I just happened to be stupid enough to think I could make her dream come true. Who the hell do I think I am? I’m asking celebrities to shout out to somebody that I really don’t know myself. I guess it really is the mama in me. Your kids think you can do anything and damn it you will. Both of us love @KandiConnection and @RASHEEDAGAPEACH. Since Kandi was going through some rough times, I didn’t press her. I was doing good to have her reply to my post. After a few days passed @AleshiaSen was getting very discouraged and I had to do something. I started a promotion blitz to get her some followers and then I reached out to the dopest Boss Chic alive. Ms. Rasheeda came through for me and sent her the shout out of her dreams. Of course I was looking rather fly for that one, but I can’t take any credit because Rasheeda is that kind of woman. She appreciates her fans and if you are following her on Twitter you know exactly what I mean.

Wow, maybe I can account for all of those tweets. I sent out keep your head up tweets, appreciation tweets, and thanks for supporting me tweets. 900 still sounds like a lot, I just might be tweeting in my sleep, so I’m thinking about installing a webcam.

I Am An Internet Socialite

Let it be known that I am the first to hold the title of “Internet Socialite”. I am coining that phrase and beginning a new tradition. You may be asking yourself, what is this woman talking about? Well I’m glad that you asked. I have to start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a forty-five year old soldier fighting the battle known as Sickle Cell Anemia. It can sometime prevent me from doing the things that most people take for granted. I am often operating with low energy and painful joints, so getting out and hanging with the “in” crowd is nothing I ever considered. When I’m feeling my best, I do good to get out and see a movie or attend a family function, so I never craved the night life. I don’t know from one day to the other if I’ll be able to even get out of bed. With my physical limitations such as they are I have created a reputation for helping other people achieve their dreams. I’m not the front-runner, I’m the cheering squad and I have learned how to do that like no one else.

I have acquired a love for the Internet and because I love to share my opinions, blogging has become my new obsession. Anything that is on my mind eventually becomes a blog. I have kept my ID name przthomas in order to develop continuity in my persona. Those who know me outside of my blogs even if they haven’t met me personally, often refer to me as Ms Phyllis. My motherly attributes must transcend my blogging abilities, because people are very open to me and accept me in ways that the average person doesn’t experience over the Internet. I don’t know if it’s because I try to stay away from negativity and gossip when I’m writing about people in the entertainment industry or not. All I know is that when I’m on Twitter I get replies from them and if I post comments on their sites I get feedback and a couple of them have gone as far as to welcome me into their celebrity zone.

Now that I got that out of the way let me explain my assertion that I am and Internet Socialite. I say that because I am not on the Internet trying to get invites to the hottest events around town and I don’t want anything from anyone I’ve met online. In my world I’m just as important and relevant as they are, so sometimes I don’t approach them like a fan (which is not necessarily a good thing), it’s more like I’m their peer. I have rubbed Internet shoulders with some of the biggest names in the business, but in true socialite form, I don’t name drop (at least not in this blog).

I am working on some hot projects with people you would know, so keep your eyes on me and you may even catch me on TV somewhere (hmmm). Watch out everybody Ms Phyllis is przthomas and she may be taking her show on the road. Until next time sweeties, be safe and love like there is no tomorrow.
